Apple appears to be working on a new pair of over-ear headphones, possibly Beats Studio Pro 2. A recently discovered filing in a Federal Communications Commission database describes an unreleased device as “Bluetooth over-ear headphones” with an antenna, battery and microphone.
The best guess right now is a long-overdue refresh of the Beats Studio Pro, which Apple released in 2023. Apple just released the AirPods Max 2, so it is unlikely the company will announce a new set of over-ear Apple headphones.
What Apple’s FCC headphones filing reveals: Possible Beats Studio Pro 2
The FCC filing says the device bears the model number A3577, but not much is known about the design.
Apple, being Apple, is secretive about its products and has filed a confidentiality request to the FCC. That means most technical documents remain under wraps. First spotted by X user aaronp613, the filing shows a labeled diagram with the FCC ID placed on a headphone’s ear cup.
Apple’s model number system doesn’t clearly distinguish between AirPods and Beats products, as both headphones use the A#### model numbers. Formally listed as “prepared for Apple Inc.,” the filing hints it is likely the Beats Studio Pro 2, as the AirPods Max 2 already has the FCC number A3454.

What we don’t know
If this is indeed a pair of Beats Studio Pro 2, Apple users may soon have a much more affordable option for new headphones than AirPods Max 2.
Details remain scarce for now. Apart from the model number, the listing does not reveal much. We don’t know the product name or anything about the design or specs. The FCC’s confidentiality period will expire in several months.
That means we must wait for details on the new Apple headphones. It also remains to be seen if Apple will unveil the Beats Studio Pro 2 at an event or announce them with a press release, which is often the case with Beats products.
